Cloud’s power and potential in the next normal

Cloud is the next Internet, if you are at the point to have yet put that into your business framework. Everything else is actually based on that and few more driving enabling technologies.
At this point of time, we have one division line we can use to divide traditional companies living in the past, and the company is not just aware, but actually knows how to use cloud to run the operations. For the first part, traditional is those who may have tried out and made use of virtual machines, but the digital operations the most are still based on the mindset of “pre-cloud”. For the second part, it is a company that not just knows about virtual machines, but runs at least some of their operation and infrastructure over the cloud. They operate with the cloud power server and web services.
Those who are already running on the cloud, that is more easy to operate despite lockdowns, remote to work from home. Traditional infrastructure is still restricted by the local host resources limits, while cloud based offers scalability for as per on demand scale or additional horsepower during the burst and peak performance period. The flexibility of the infrastructure is what makes the cloud more ideal for digital transformation, to achieve scope, scale and speed strategy any modern enterprise needs.

Moving toward the cloud also means the company fully knows about cloud computing, how they need to break away from the past belief for physical local host hardware or run virtual machines from those boxes. They need to be capable of visualizing how the cloud infrastructure once embedded into the enterprise, what they can do in the new business ways.  It is recommended for the company to start your cloud migration sooner rather than later.  Cloud computing depends on the company business project, it can be started small, but got to be started right with the business project.

Once you are in the cloud, you will notice that you actually can run and power up a lot of the services, in the open source or commercial open sources. That helps you free up a lot of unnecessary licensing based on the old practice. The real result most of the enterprise wants to achieve is scale, scope and speed at the reasonable return on business investment.  You saw IBM acquired Red Hat in the recent news, and if you have yet understood the real motive behind the move, think again.
