Eid al-Fitr falls in the first day of Shawwal and known as one of the biggest celebration in the Islamic calendar. It is a mandatory celebration for muslims for it means to show gratitude to Allah for blessing them with Islam as a religion and to commemorate their victory or success in fulfilling one of the pillar of Islam, fasting for the whole month of Ramadhan as well as refraining themselves from every action that is forbidden during Ramadhan.
There are many significant events during the celebration of Eid-al Fitr. Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr with Takbir (chanting Allahuakbar which means Allah is the greatest) in the night before Eid al-Fitr and in the first day of Shawwal. In the morning of the Eid-Fitr, the first day of Shawwal, Muslims will perform a congregational prayer called the Eid-al Fitr prayer in the mosque. Other important activities that happens are wearing new or decent attire visits their relatives, friend and neighbours promote unity, seeking forgiveness among each other as well as wishes everyone they met along the way with “May Allah accept (good deeds) from us and from you”.
