McAfee Vulnerability Manager, a web application scanner, with the end-of-sale date in January 2016. This EOL process helps ensure we are investing in the right areas to continually innovate and lead the market with the best solutions that address our customers’ security needs. Instead of directly participating in the vulnerability management segment, McAfee has partnered with Rapid7 to transition our customers over to its market-leading Nexpose solution.
McAfee Vulnerability Manager and McAfee Total Protection for Compliance are scheduled for End of Sale (EOS) on January 11th, 2016. For those customers that have both McAfee Vulnerability Manager appliances and McAfee Vulnerability Manager software (please see table below on affected SKUs) support will be for up to five years from the date of end of sale. The five-year support period will consist of up to three years support and two years of limited support. End of life and end of support will be effective January 11, 2021. Customers can renew support for McAfee Vulnerability Manager appliances and software during the five-year support period, but new license or appliance purchases during this time period will not be possible.
For McAfee customers that own the McAfee Vulnerability Manager software (including McAfee Vulnerability Manager, McAfee Total Protection for Compliance, Web Application Assessment Module, and Foundstone Travelling License) but do not own appliances support will be for up to two years from the date of end of sales of January 11, 2016. The end of support will be effective January 11th 2018.
The support needs to be renewed on an annual basis. Any McAfee Vulnerability Manager assets, which have expired entitlements, cannot be renewed. In conjunction with this announcement, Intel Security is announcing a partnership with Rapid7 as the solution for McAfee Vulnerability Manager customers to transition to. Details on this partnership will be forthcoming soon.
