Why most of the enterprises fail in digital transformation, will be the post main theme. Every company regardless of size, as long as you are in the business for something, you are used to what brings you to where you are today.
For instance, being a banker, if you are 100 years old, you will carry that very old value of the past to the current operation. Somehow, those unspoken culture of being pride for being 100 years old, and this is who we are doing some of the things or get things done, will being DNA hardcode into the enterprise, they are psychologically create a mentality that may or may not related to where the world is moving toward, but they are dreaming and continue to be so, until the day they wake up from the dreaming world and accept the reality. Typically big enterprises will only accept the reality that, after a big setback, affects whether they will survive or not for another wave of impact, then they will start to call for the change, and usually, as you can expect, the time will not favor the change initiative they attempt to do. The bigger the enterprise, the faster they will fall, due to compound effects multiplying by the size, but this supposed to work in the good time, will be a disaster during the bad time. Since whatever effect will be accelerated.

Give a quick example, a man wanted to quit smoking, so he set the goal to quit. How do you want to compare with another person who, in the core identity, believes he is no smoker in the first place, and who you believe will be a successful change and have the lasting result? For every change to be possible and lasting, we need to change who we are, and believe in it, then have the system to continue to reinforce the change to be lasting. It will be the same in the business context. This is the main reason for why so many digital transformations fail, it is not about not having the resources, it is they are not really looking for change in the core identity.
